Installing a Small Hot Tub
When you purchase small jetted hot tubs they are usually sent to your local retailer for you to pick up or if you order online (which can save you money); small jetted bathtubs are shipped to your door. Most models come with the pump, motor and water pipes assembled in the tub.

Installation Instructions
- Assemble your equipment and tools
- Take your hot tub out of the packaging and check the unit for defects. Report any damage to the retailer where you purchased it. You may have to stop the installation until your small jetted hot tub is correct.
- Cover the small bathtub to prevent any damage during installation.
- Test the unit for any leaks by putting water in it.
- You should not handle the whirlpool by the pump, motor or piping system; this can cause damage.
- Locate wall studs for attaching any framing to if you will be building an enclosure for small jetted bathtubs.
- Check that the rough bathtub dimensions are correct, plumb and square.
- Make an access opening for the pump and controls. Additional opening for access to drain pipes is recommended.
- Place the bathtub into the opening and level it. Shimming may be required for leveling.
- Mark the wall studs with the final position of your bathtub.
- Remove the bathtub and securely attach the 2×4 stringer to the studs with screws. The top of the stringer should touch the mark you made earlier on the wall studs.
- Install the small hot tubs fixture drain components according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Before placing your small Jacuzzi hot tub for final placement, be certain an opening has been made in the subfloor for the drain to exit.
- After putting the small bathtub back in place; re-shim to level. Shim along the entire length of the support feet. Secure the shims using waterproof adhesive mortar. Have a licensed electrician perform all electrical work for your small jetted bathtub. This will ensure compliance with applicable building and electrical codes
- Test drain lines by connecting small Jacuzzi bathtub’s drain to waste line. Tighten all drain pipe joints securely. Hand tighten pump couplings. Fill your small hot tub with water two inches above the highest jet. Check all pipe connections for leaks. Retighten bathtub’s connection and check again if leaks are found.
- Connect your jetted bath tub to electrical outlet and turn on. Check for any leaks while running.
- If the bathtub is free from leaks; you are ready to enclose your tub with the desired enclosure, if any.
